
Religious Pilgrimage Sites
The Middle East is famous for the existence
of its many holy sites:
Prophet Moses (Musa)
On Mount Nebo
Before his death Musa looked from the summit
of Mount Nebo over the Jordan River towards
Palestine.
Prophet Moses is buried on Mount Nebo, but
his tomb is not marked.
Prophet Lot (Lut)
Near the Dead Sea

Before punishing the sinful cities of Sodom
and Gomorrah God warned Lot and his family
to leave the area.
Lot went to live with his daughters in this
cave near the
Dead Sea.
Prophet Joshua (Yusha)
Near Salt
The shrine of Prophet Joshua is located
within a mosque, west of Salt.
Prophet Joshua was the successor to Prophet
Moses and commander of the Israeli conquest.

Prophet Hud
Near Jerash
The shrine of Prophet Hud is located in a
modern mosque on a hill not far from
Jerash.
Prophet Hud warned the people to worship God
and not idols.
When the people did not listen God destroyed
them; only Hud and his followers survived.
Prophet Aaron (Haroun)
Near Petra
On top of Jebel Haroun (1396 m) near Petra
there is a mosque where it is believed that
Prophet Haroun, brother of Prophet Musa, is
buried.
Cave of the Seven Sleepers (Kahf Al Raqim)
Near Amman
A group of pious Muslim youths took refuge
in this cave, located 10km from Amman, to
escape religious persecution from the
Christians.
To preserve them God put them to sleep for
309 years. At the cave there are Byzantine
ruins and a mosque.
Abu Ubaida Amer bin Al Jarrah Mosque
Near the Jordan Valley

Abu Ubaida Amer bin Al-Jarrah was Prophet
Mohammad's relative and one of the Blessed
Ten to whom Mohammad promised paradise.
Prophet Noah (Nuh)
Near
Karak / Mazar
God was so disappointed with the evil of
mankind that he decided to destroy man
through a flood.
However, God allowed Noah and his family to
survive the flood by letting Noah build an
Ark.
The tomb of Prophet Noah is located near
Karak
and Mazar.
Sahaba Shrines of Ja'far bin Abi Talib ,
Abdullah bin Ruwahah, and Zaid bin Harithah
Near
Karak / Mazar

In
Jordan
you can also visit the tombs of the
venerable companions Zaid bin Harithah,
Ja'far bin Abi Talib and Abdullah bin
Ruwahah in the town of Al Mazar Al Janubi
near
Karak.
