An Introduction
to
Jordan
Jordan shares borders with
Palestine, Israel, the Syrian Arab Republic,
Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. It occupies a
geographically significant location between
three continents (Asia, Europe, and Africa).
Although Jordan is a small
country it has played a historically
significant role in the struggle for power
in the Middle East, partly because of its
strategic location on the crossroads of what
Christians, Jews, and Muslims call the Holy
Land.
Western travelers have been
exploring the Middle East for well over a
century, but Jordan remains still quite new
to travelers.
Welcoming only a fraction of
the numbers who visit Egypt and Israel.
Jordan's popular image abroad
encompasses much more than camels, deserts,
and Bedouin culture.
There is so many sites and
activities in Jordan ranging from mountains,
beaches, castles, ancient churches, its
people, and rich culture.
In Jordan many come to visit
the remains of cities, before Christ was
born; hike along ancient trails and roads
mentioned in the Old Testament and through a
landscape that has changed little in the
last 2,000 years.
